'More than just a Paramedic: Opportunies beyond the ambulance service'


Mark is from County Donegal, ROI and speaks both Gaeilge (Irish) and Spanish. He started life as an economist and specialised in Latin American finance during which time he lived in Brazil, Argentina and Chile. In 2001 Mark became a Paramedic in the US qualifying with the University of Iowa, and subsequently worked offshore and in remote area for two major shipping companies. He later moved to the UK and requalified as a UK Paramedic with Birmingham City University. He has also completed the UK Offshore Medic course at Nottingham City Hospital, and spent 2013 working in Kedougou, Senegal (West Africa) in a remote area medical facility.


He is the Senior Medic for Hamble Lifeboat in Southampton and also supports the South Central Ambulance Service as a contractor Paramedic. He works with the Southampton coroner on the Drug related death group, is a member of the UK International Emergency Trauma Register, holds ALS and PHTLS qualifications. Most recently Mark has started work as an Emergency Department Practitioner - Paramedic. In his own words, 'I do wings, wheels and water' and there is no doubt Mark is a very well travelled and experienced Paramedic with a lot of insight to offer our delegates. We are very pleased to have Mark on board!
